Loft living.

So we did this.

we really liked what we had done..however, two of the judges don’t agree with us.

Well……we lost again

well.

Finally we are about done with 2007 and halo! 2008

Would like to wish all of you out there a fantastic year ahead as we do away with the all the unhappiness from 2007 and start on a clean sleight for year 2008!

Let us all be able to put away all unhappiness, unaccomplished missions, unfinished resolutions and formulate something new for ourselves in the forthcoming new year.

Perhaps for a change, when we set new goals for the new year, we give ourselves simpler task, somethings that are more achievable..rather than far fetched ideas that make us feel like losers when we are not able to fulfill them.Let us all be kinder to ourselves, in turn, people will be kinder towards us.. we hope.

So heres to you my dear friends, may 2008 be a beautiful year for you and I.

First and foremost, would like to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and may the magic of christmas take away your sorrows, if not, lessen the pain, and may love warms your heart and serves as a balm to wounded souls…

For this episode, we have to create modern opulence. Opulence =lavish high living. This episode must be the very first one that i got that completely baffles me..not the topic bu the layout of the flat that we were assigned.On the left hand side of the living room there is a kind of a steps shape and the right hand side wall is actually a slanting wall that stretches all the way to the windows.And miraculously, right in the middle of the slanting wall, a small squarish window that you will find normally in store rooms or bedroom..

We were rather stressed by this layout ..however, we forged ahead and did what we could do possibly.

On D day, lee teng arrived with a fresh haircut..the one that i had persuaded him to have and my oh my, he looked real good wor..

with such a happy start, the day should have gone real well until we found out that the paint job was really bad! After much scoldings, we finally began to work ..

Me thought that it would be really opulent if we have one of the most reknowned painting hanging on the wall and so, i drewed Monalisa to create the opulent feel..

Almost near the entrance we have this mirror cum key hanger thingy on the wall ..

We relocated the dinning room to create this romantic corner for the couple..

Eventually, when alls been done, we were rather pleased with what we have done.Even though we lost, we were really happy with what we have done when faced with such a challenge.Its been a really tiring day…

 Today we are dealing with Spa style living and since the lost last episode, we are all geared up to put on a good fight.

This week we are assigned  a five room executive flat and the sparsely furnitured flat is screaming to be filled up and we did this.

We chose the poster day bed to be the main focal point of the large living room.Added mosquito net to bring out the romantic and dreamy effect

The original huge and chunky tv is now encased in a wooden structure that we built. The slanting sides of the tv is now hidden and the white also contrast nicely with the green walls..

We diy the three piece murals with tea lights to lend a zen feel to the dinning room

The platform area is now converted into a cosy corner, with a low square table with overhanging tea lights chandlier

All in all, we are very much pleased with the whole look and this spa received the nod from the three judges.

With a dash of eucalyptus scent in the air, sound of running water and flickering candlelight,

We left our dear contestants and headed home.

Pleased and…

relaxed.

 

It is now officially the 16TH!!

Hoo! the most dreaded day of the year is here! So for the entire year i worked and worked and suddenly, its time for exams liao. Guess this is the day when you know how you have fared for the entire year..Star awards they call it. Examinations..the way i see it.

When i was still in school, i dreaded examinations.When i got out of school, i was most delighted to be able to go scott free,away from the prying arms of examinations! Unfortunately, my choice of occupation has another form of examination and the worst of it all, i am being judged by the people.. many many people…

Quite an irony isn’t? when we thought we have passed the stage of being under the tertiary rule , we are judged and tested by the community..regardless of what occupation you chose, you are constantly under going examinations.

At the end of the line, regardless of who you are and what you are, we are all the same.

Just humans who are swimming in the sea struggling to breathe…and to live.

Simply,

Just humans.

This ep we are doing Bohemian living, which is almost like a flea market concept, earth tones walls and many ecletic stuffs around the house. This time round we are working on a four room flat and one of the walls are covered with tiles.

Undauntered, we press on and created this..

We used some wooden board with holes in it to cover the entire wall of tiles and it came out rather nice…hoo!

I have a thing about mirrors though..i love the way we can see things thru it and it gives a rather surreal feel to it..

Though we lost, we felt that we have achieved what we set out to do. Perhaps only the bohemians would have the actual knowledge of how a bohemian style should be..However, it was really great of the neighbour to loan us their eclectic array of collections and we finally filled the empty spaces, almost as if we have been to a flea market and got lots of treasures there. Bohemian style is an individualistic, eclectic style.Some may interpret it to be loud and colourful, others may want it to have a dash of gold.It is afterall, an eclectic style, isn it?
