Back to WORK Again:)

And here we go, while the students are into their holiday, i am back to work yesterday..

1300hrs- collected my clothes for my trip to Hainan Island on Monday, which is for a programme about tracing the roots of a hometown dish( the hainanese beef noodles)..rather excited about this trip as this would be the very first time i am going back to the place where my ancestors came from:)..

1400 hrs-went to annexe building level two for my meeting with the production team of the programme star guide..This  is my third participation in this programme, reprising the role of the tour guide! A ten day or so trip bringing us to parts of Germany and switzerland! The last time i visited Zurich and Geneva would be about ten years ago and am really looking forward to revisit this Heidi like country..One of the highlights would be to visit the highest point  of Europe, Mount Jungfraujoch, and till now, i have yet to decipher how to go about pronouncing this name and many others such as..eh..Schaffhausen..Leukerbad…well..that’s BAD ya? well..ya ya!

1500hrs-went to variety wardrobe and met up with the production team of “Home Decor”, where i tried on a couple of outfits and commiserated with the team on the “how to’s” of this fourth installment of the series..reunited with the producer and a.producer of series 3 with the new virginal first timer research writer, whom i think is gonna have a ball of a time..ha!

1630hrs- went to the artist management unit where i met up with the wonderful folks from Singapore institute of Mangagement. All this while, SIM has been organsisng various activities for their members and none members which aids them, the participants, on areas of management..And this year, when the economy is ever so gloomy and people in general seemed less happy, they actually invited me on board and to spent an evening with them in search of Happiness! Imagine this, me in a lecture theatre,on the stage, the only one on stage, and sharing my perspectives and my take on “Happiness” for an entire two hours!! I am ever so honoured and delighted and wish with all my heart that i will bring the house down! Perhaps, if you would like to join the fun, and listen to my uncensored take on what happiness is all about, the details are as follows:

Date : 30 June (Tuesday)
Time : 7 pm – 9 pm
Venue : LT 1-03 (SIM Headquarters)

Fee: $20 SIM Members

$25 UniSIM Alumni

$30 Non-members
Contact : Evelyn Wong (6248 9784)

www.sim.edu.sg/bryan.html

And so that wraps up my first day back at work..So happening..so much to do.. a day of meeting almost concludes the stuffs to do for the coming three months..

walk with me once more..

as i walk by your side……

do u know where i can get the very authentic hainanese pork chop?
i had it almost everyday for lunch for a good part of my childhood… the pork chop with a dash of light tomato gravy (with onions and potatoes? etc) poured over it before serving…
Those that we get nowadays has lost it’s original flavour… can’t get the 古早味 hainanese pork chop anywhere now…

Bryan, thank you very much for sharing! We are all happy at the meeting.

Though some of the points that you have shared are what a lot of us have already known, somehow, human beings tend to be forgetful and need to be reminded. Many a time, we are looking forward to ‘greater happiness’ that we fail to realise that there are little things around us that can bring happiness too. at times we are too self-centred and neglected those people around us, and their feeling.

This morning i was calling my friend to attend your talk cos’ i am sure she can learn something or ‘realise’ something for herself and be happy. She was saying that her elderly mother has not been well and that at times it was tedious to look after her when she threw tantrum. i told her that when she take care of her mother, she should remind herself that when she was younger her mum also bao rong (accept her as she is) her. We should not ze wang (‘expectation’, we have too much expectation from others, so much so that when our expectation is not met, we are unhappy) mummy to behave the way we want her to be. Rather, she should feel happy that her mum is still around and that she can still take care of her. By making her mum feel that she cares for her, she will feel happy and at least at the moment forget about her pain/ suffering. We won’t wanna wait till the day when we don’t have a chance to do so and live in regrets. My friend was very happy after hearing that. am sharing this to also remind ourselves to treasure what we have now. Yes, ‘NOW’ is more important!

We are relectant to ‘let go’. It’s just like a fully packed container, without throwing some things away, we are unable to accept new things, ideas, changes.

A lot of time, we are craving for things. If we could allow time for reflection, we would notice that we can be happy all the time. We should bring happiness to others, it’s also a way of bringing happiness to ourselves, cos by then, we would be to occupied that we forget about what has made us unhappy.

As we do things with a happy heart, we are forever happy and the happiness could be radiated to those around us too! Everything is from our ‘xin’ 若 人 欲 了 知 三 世 一 切 佛 应 观 法 界 性 一 切 为 心 造This is 觉 林 菩 萨 偈 found at the beginning part of 地 藏 经sutra. This is something that we must remember by heart.

May you be Well and Happy!

    Yours sincerely
    joey

I’m currently taking my degree in SIM and yupp, I saw from my student portal that you’ll be coming to my school.

Happiness is not so much of a difficult thing right?
As for me, I’m happy because I chose to be.

I hope you’re enjoying life and happy too!
