D Day
It is now officially the 16TH!!
Hoo! the most dreaded day of the year is here! So for the entire year i worked and worked and suddenly, its time for exams liao. Guess this is the day when you know how you have fared for the entire year..Star awards they call it. Examinations..the way i see it.
When i was still in school, i dreaded examinations.When i got out of school, i was most delighted to be able to go scott free,away from the prying arms of examinations! Unfortunately, my choice of occupation has another form of examination and the worst of it all, i am being judged by the people.. many many people…
Quite an irony isn’t? when we thought we have passed the stage of being under the tertiary rule , we are judged and tested by the community..regardless of what occupation you chose, you are constantly under going examinations.
At the end of the line, regardless of who you are and what you are, we are all the same.
Just humans who are swimming in the sea struggling to breathe…and to live.

Juz want to say ‘Good luck’ to the result. But no matter what is the result, you have done your best for the whole year. And as long as you know you have put in the best effort to whatever you had done, I’m sure the audience will know and move on with you. You have all our support.

but again, just like any rules of games, any form of examinations has its flaws, so are the various awards in the entertainment industry which are supposedly a measure of either popularity or achievement. there is really no full-proof way to measure how good, or clever one person is… and so does “star awards”, which many would agree it’s more like a game than an exam due to the way the results are determined. it has been and still is being questioned of it’s non-transparency of who the professional judges are? how surveys had been carried out? why unlimited voting can be accepted from any individual? etc etc…
just like exams, some scored high because they’re lucky, or because they peeped at the answers of the person sitting next to him, while a clever and hardworking might flop cos of carelessness, or cos he’s sick…
so let not just a game like this affect ur confidence in urself.
even andy lau took more than 10 years before he won an award in acting, though he got recognition for his acting long before that.
but while he had won hundreds of awards in music, til today many people still think he can’t sing…
so? does awards really show much?
neverthelss, most important is:
if u win, let everyone think u deserved it.
if u lose, let everyone feel that u should have won.
my fav hk lyricist 黄伟文 who used to always lost the best lyricist award to 林夕 (also another excellent lyricist) during music awards once said:
宁愿拿不到奖有人替我不值，
好过拿到奖而别人觉得我不值。
希望你拿到奖，而大家又觉得你实至名归！

exam is the process to getting your results
in which the results may turn out well or otherwise
but we should always look at the effort put during the process in getting through the exam rather than the results itself
although the results itself is something which we can see physically
but the your hardwork and your effort, is also a form of reward for yourself
so, bryan, i’m sure you’ll be able to achieve both!

I agreed that with your view that we are “constantly undergoing examinations”. However, I would think that best person to judge our performance is “ourselves”. Have we put in our best in whatever we do? Have we managed to achieve what we set to achieve? Have we discover our shortcomings and be willing to face them and work to improve? If we can pose those questions to ourselves and get a positive answer, we’ve passed the test. We should not be overly dependent on others’ opinion, as other individuals have their own “grading” system or preference (or in some cases, unfair bias).

we non-celeb have that every year too, called Performance Management Review (PMO).. .yours it’s better … more glam and more happening.. like a party and gathering.
but… everyone has a diff yardstick in their heart so this game is never fair i guess… there’s no ideal world anyway… so best to just face it with 平常心.

hey bryan (feels abit weird calling ya this name),
i felt that this entry of yours really got me into some deep thinking. Stars or what we know as actresses/actors are simply really just humans at the end of the day. With thoughts, feelings and emotions just like us “normal” people out there.
so, sometimes, i think we conveniently forget this fact and began to say some rude and bad remarks about stars. thats really sad =( because we obviously forgotton that stars have emotions too – they can get hurt and they can feel really overjoyed when they get rewarded for the Star Awards every year. sense of accomplishment !!! =)

Don’t get dishearted. In everyone’s mind/heart, you’re already the WINNER.
As for the top 10 popular male artiste, don’t worry that you’re unable to make your speech. I think your presence on stage speaks more than words.
Your mum/family understands your position. Is not that you wanted to be always out every day. Believe me, if you spend 1 hour with your mum, she will appreciate. Like what i say, your presence it counts. even if you spends only 30 mins to sit down with your mum chatting or watching tv or doing something both of you love is more than enough.

You know wat….This is the first time I enjoy the star award after watching for years after years coz I think Yvonne Lim, Zheng GePing, May Phua, Kym Ng, Quan Da Ma, Huang Biren, and yourself deserved the awards.

Really good to hear that from you.In fact, just got home from work and also gotten knowledge that sph’s sinmin actually wrote about it. i guess i have to declare here that i don’t have a “special” relationship with Pornsak. Legal action? sigh..everyone is entittled to their own opinions and they are allowed to perceive things in the way they want to.Perhaps they haven’t been at the receiving end and they do not know their opinions hurt others whilst they are rejoicing on their perceived discovery.

I am Veronica, one of Bryan’s group of friends who cooked, and waited for him to get home for our nice, short and cozy celebration, after his winning from Star Award.
Our group was made up of family members, best friends, ex-colleague, business partner. Bryan may not feel the need of explaining, but I feel outsider should be more sensitive when they speculate such things, because we have elderies at home, whom may not be able to take such joke like the younger generation.
Sorry Bryan i speak too much. But i am pissed, reporters are suppose to report fact, not 捕风抓影.

It is quite pissed off after reading the news report from omy.sg… Based on this report and his character, I think he won’t comments anything more… Am I right, Bryan? I believe that those who knows Bryan well enough, will feel it’s unfair for him.
Like what Bryan says that he’s always the last person to go on stage to get the award and was not given much time to thank the people he wanted to thank.
Don’t worry too much, Bryan. So long that you know what you’re doing, it’s fine.

Reporters always write rubbish cos is their rice bowl. No choice just ignore them, tell yourself, they can write what they want but the true is the truth. Be happy cos don’t let this kind of gossips affect your life. We believe you are what you are.

I had just finished watching the last episode of 百家乐3。
Again, I was very disappointed with the judges result.
Frankly, all of our friends felt that the judges (Apart from Hanwei) were very “questionable”, especially the …
In fact, I had gotten very “tired” of watching the show.
Though taste is very subjective but I really doubt the “fairness” of the “competition”!
If you called it a true & honorable “competition” at all.
Just to air these long over-due pent-up frustration of the results.
To me, it’s really not fair to you & your fellow team-mates hardwork, especially an insult to your TRUE talent & taste!
Don’t despair, I believe you have lots of supporters & fans that understand your work.
