DMW: Festival 拉贾斯坦省的普希卡骆驼节 Rajasthan Pushkar 塞维亚的春祭 Sevilla Feria de Abril
I love festivals!
I simply adore them!
It is always through festivals that you can indulge in celebrating and basking in the warmth of people and surround yourself with joy and happiness! This week is a double whammy! we covered two very different festivals..One, the main persona being the animals and the other, people.
拉贾斯坦省的普希卡骆驼节 Rajasthan Pushkar Camel Fair
This is a world reknown fair that even tourists flock there just to soak up the atmosphere and be awed by the sights and sounds of Pushkar. Our journey to Rajasthan Pushar began on the train, which brought us into the region of rajasthan but not pushkar, the remaining journey to be completed by road…
I guess most of us would have seen footages of the alarming trainride in india, where folks are crowded like sardines and even squating on rooftops..However, there are actually many different classes and we got ourselves a rather decent one and as we took the morning ride at six, it came with breakfast wor!
Pushkar is in the desert area ,which clearly explains the need of Camels in this part of the world.Prior to this trip, i am a wee bit apprehensive about accomodation as my team has dropped more than a thousand hints that this would be the ultimate test of accomodation of our entire series. Not that i can’t rough it out in the wilds..but, having no place to poopoo and shower aint exactly an ideal situation for me as i still need to present the show ya?My worries were unfounded though, when we reached our “campsite”, we were pleased to find that our tentages comes equipped with a toilet..Though really bare and no hot water( night temperature drops down to 10 degrees) with just a safari bed and a table lamp to shed some light, we were glad that the coming four days would be bearable..That, really, was before we had our food…:(
Ha! loved doing this..apparently supposed to be a camel fair and yet, this post, till now, has yet to show one single camel! how’s about this one?
OOps! not a camel but horses..BTW, did i mention that besides camels, they trade horses and buffalos and cows TOO!
That’s me! On a Camel’s carriage..me felt like a prince touring his entire herds of live stocks..Eh..still no camels ya..well..
He ain’t exactly laughing at you, but with you, since you have yet to get a glimse of a camel..but note the turban on his head..this is in typical ragasthan style and that was about 6 meters long!
Still no camels:(:(:(…but take comfort in the fact that these folks are off to the camel fair and rajasthan is famous for the bright arrays of colours that they adorn themselves with..Before we locate the camels, just to let you know that at the fair, you are teated to a spectacle of entertainment that you know only Bolllywood can provide..There are Gypsies dancing and flirting…making the heat (about forty degrees)bearable…and after that, they harass you for money..
( there is actually one camel in this pic, can you find him?)
You have the snake charmers..who gets the cobra really high..and you panic…and then, they harass you for money…
Or you might be amazed by to what length some guys can be…
and if you are one that loves going in circles ,this might just be your kind of a fun!
Or that’s not high enough, perhaps you really need a balloon or two???
that’s a hell of a shit!
Or perhaps, you want to cleanse yourselves of all the evils and bad deeds, you could have a dip in this sacred river..
Well, if none of the above pleases you, perhaps this series of pictures might just do the trick!
Enough..ya, i think so too..
just this one more!..the camel so pretty wor..all dressed up but..nowhere to go:(
As the day draws to a close, the traders actually camps out in the desert, just next to their livestocks..where they shower and cook there too.
My trip to Pushkar was really awesome..Though life is on the hard side, the people are able to derive joy in many little things in life that we conveniently overlooked..this, we should learn..and we will be happier..

塞维亚的春祭 Sevilla Feria de Abril
OLLA! That’s a constant phrase that pops out of my mouth everytime i see another being..We’re in SPAIN for the Amazing Sevilla Feria de Abril!!
This is a celebration to welcome spring..for a good harvest year ..a celebration of life..of mankind!!!!!
Before pictures of the festivities, let’s see what Sevilla is all about:)
And the fun began..
Upon midnight, this maga arch goes magical, filled with lights and dazzling the night!
The celebations began with the magnificent dresses!!
Only invited guests are allowed into these tentages, where they dance, eat, watch performances..drink..drank……DRUNK.
and food..wow..glorious food!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Every trip has got its high point..and this time round, i got to get a glimpse of this awesome figure in a restaurant where we dine..Unfortunately, i haven’t got the guts to approach him for a picture so, i snapped..from a distance
He is none other than KOFI ANAN, 7th Secretary-General of the United Nations
This trip to the Seveilla Feria was mind blowing..The myriad of colours, the celebrations and the fantabulous party mood left me wanting for more..
Per chance i might go back there once again,
just to drink…drank….drunk.

Bryan,
why did you put on that red turban? 我看了觉得好笑。LOL.
Wah, I guess you really buy alot of things from overseas hor? Keke.
Envy you can buy that nice brown colour cape. You make it sound so nice…. 真的有一点想伸出我的手臂,钻进电视跟你把它抢过来。哈哈。The brown cape looks nice on you.
I felt that you should have joined in the activities played at camel fair leh, then at least you can tell the TV viewers how you actually felt after participating in the games. Haha.
Sad to hear the 3 “endings” of camels, especially the last one – to be buried alive!~ Oh gawd. All of a sudden, feel that we humans, so-called higher beings bestowed with speech and logic thinking, are actually cruel to animals.
We are afterall living organisms living on planet earth.
Why like that?
Sigh! *Shakes head*

love your photos, almost every single one tells a story. i love the portrait shot which u took of the indian man, the gaze of his eyes just tells u so much emotions: life is hard, but happiness is always with you if you choose to be happy. love the dreamy feel of the newly wed couple, fairy tale wedding… I can feel the excitment you had when you were in spain. The flamenco dance and flamenco music makes you want to join in the fun isnt it? i’ve never been to spain and india, but would love to travel to this countries one of these days. Thanks for sharing! =)
