DMW: THE MARKETPLACE -京都东寺市集 Kyoto 伊斯坦布尔大市集 Istanbul Kapali Carsi ( grand bazaar) 伦敦波多贝罗市集 London Portobello market
To market to market
to buy a fat pig…
However, these three marketplace that i have been to ain’t exactly a place to get that. .. But, you will find plenty more!
This time round, i will let the pictures do most of the talking….
京都东寺市集 Kyoto
This market ,on a good day, will have hundreds of stalls selling all kinds of stuffs from local delicasies,kimonos,bonzai…….;;;;;;;;;;;
Interestingly, we are not the only visitors…
If i could age like this, make me fifty anyday..
As the marketplace coincides with the festivities of the temple, i got to see this awesome sight of monks walking and chanting by..
伊斯坦布尔大市集 Istanbul Kapali Carsi ( grand bazaar)
I guess this Grand Bazaar needs no intro, with thousands of shops under one historical roof, your shopping will definitely hit the roof!!!!
Rays of light filtering thru the openings..rather etheral ,me thinks..
Mostly hand crafted stuffs..extremely colourfully exotic..
It is practically a male dominated bazaar as almost all the sales people are..males
Eyes galore…Hang one at your door or your neck and ward all evils away..
With creativity aplenty, blue eyes are now giving way to the colourful ones..However, i like the authentic blue ones better
Besides carpets, porcelain wares and evil eyes, the other goody that got me all preky would be these moroccan inspired lamps..
伦敦波多贝罗市集
London Portobello market
Thanks to Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts, Notting Hill is never the same again…
I chanced upon this delectable fantabulous cafe/bakery nestled at the corner of the street and this i found!!!!!
If you are now presently undergoing a diet of somekind..Please stop here
If pastry and cakes are a no no, salads could just be the answer..
Revelations in this episode are not so many
Nothing out of the ordinary…
But the knowledge that i gained aplenty..
As i emptied my pockets rather full of monies..
Things to buy are many.
Some are for my mummy..
Marketplace in the world are aplenty..
Where people meet and trades are many
So long as you have a dime or a penny
You will never go home with your hands empty……
Shop with me
and you will be happy.

Hi Bryan.. I know this comment is not really relevant with what you’ve posted!
I really miss those days back in 2002 – 2004 when mediacorp and mediawork fights against each station to gain viewer’s attention. I decided to pen a public blog about this topic coz it’s consider as one of the most inspiring things that have a significant influence in my life. Although I’m an Indonesian but it’s been part of my life for nearly four years. What amazed me is, the station never them in a glamour packaging or tempting the audience by giving valuable prices. They just know how to approaches viewer’s heart with their very own way, “Creative, Vibrant and Sincere soul”. I was really following the start of the Channel U since the pre broadcast and witnessed every phase of their growing steps… but I was really sad when they’ve merged to mediacorp in back 2005. Yeah, I know… The channel is still exists but somehow, the variety shows that been produced post merging is really sucks as if it’s lacks of the creativity and vibrant…. I just missed those days! When our family gather in the living room to watch Channel U’s program… Thanks SPH mediawork, Thanks Channel U… U’ll always be in my heart!
Thanks Bryan for brinnging us so many hilarious acts on your variety show! ur really inspiring and you’re the best!
Thanks~

Hi Bryan! I seldom comment on blogs but ur recent blog entries sparked off this burning question in me. Are the photos all taken by yourself? They’re beautiful! The sense of photography is great really. are they taken with a normal digital camera? keep those lovely photos and wonderful and insightful entries coming
on March 15th, 2009 at 7:18 pm
hi orange..glad that you left a comment..actuallu, i guess most bloggers would like ppl to leave a comment voicing their thoughts too..To answer thy question, the pictures that hasn’t got me in it are taken by me…and yes, they are taken with a normal digital camera and the one i am using is canon G9..

We succeed only as we identify in life, or in war, or in anything else, a single overriding objective, and make all other considerations bend to that one objective.

I spent a year as an exchange student in Kyoto Japan, and I have to say I probably wouldnt have gotten by if it werent for a delicious bowl of udon a couple of times a week! There is even one shop where you can eat for free if you do 30 minutes of washing after, but I cant say I was ever that poor! Anyway, I found a load more tasty looking ideas at this udon recipe site.
