Home Decor 3 Bohemian living
This ep we are doing Bohemian living, which is almost like a flea market concept, earth tones walls and many ecletic stuffs around the house. This time round we are working on a four room flat and one of the walls are covered with tiles.
Undauntered, we press on and created this..
We used some wooden board with holes in it to cover the entire wall of tiles and it came out rather nice…hoo!
I have a thing about mirrors though..i love the way we can see things thru it and it gives a rather surreal feel to it..
Though we lost, we felt that we have achieved what we set out to do. Perhaps only the bohemians would have the actual knowledge of how a bohemian style should be..However, it was really great of the neighbour to loan us their eclectic array of collections and we finally filled the empty spaces, almost as if we have been to a flea market and got lots of treasures there. Bohemian style is an individualistic, eclectic style. Some may interpret it to be loud and colourful, others may want it to have a dash of gold.It is afterall, an eclectic style, isn it?

on December 10th, 2007 at 9:03 pm
Hi!
My family was totally shocked by the results at the end of the show.
We thought you’ve won this episode.
Your designs were totally fab and classy.
I love that you place lil’ photographs on the wall. nice!!
You should have won though, anyhow, continue to rock on your designs.
FAB!
on December 10th, 2007 at 9:04 pm
Well…… i guess you win some….you lose some. Your effort and sincerity will always be felt by all. Way to go, Bryan….
on December 10th, 2007 at 9:07 pm
me no agree with the judges today leh… why did they think this is opulent? just because got gold color? think they need to read more, see more, learn more lor…
on December 10th, 2007 at 9:25 pm
wow.. this episode is exciting and interesting!!
both teams are great for this episode!!
mark’s design was great as urs, ii felt that the curtains spoil it only..
as for ur design, ii love the colours coordination..
but ii felt that its kinda too cramped for sooo many things to put together..
its kinda messy thou’..=P
maybe its due to that the living room was a bit small..?
anyway, losing is not wad ii wish for ya, so fight on!! ^^,
on December 10th, 2007 at 9:34 pm

that’s indeed amazing. turning such a typical -looking flat into something so different.
you’re great!
on December 10th, 2007 at 9:56 pm
hi there, I’ve just watched Home Decor. I cant disagree with the judges comments that you’re shifting away fromthe theme.
Anyway, I love the candle you had painted. Did you learn painting b4?
Seeing you painting kind of inspire me to do so. Its like a way to express thoughts/ feelings. But I’m really lousy at this.
on December 10th, 2007 at 10:09 pm
Hi..
though you lose this round, I still prefer your design rather than Mark’s..never mind keep it up..way to go!! Don’t be upset..Jia you!!

Hi Bryan,
To me u hv won, your design much much better than Mark.
U r the Best!
on December 11th, 2007 at 12:17 am
i totally love this design!
on December 11th, 2007 at 12:34 am
Hi Byran,
Although I prefer your design compared to Mark’s, I agree with the judges that his is closer to the Bohemian Theme this week.
Just a site note to those who would like to know more about the Bohemian people :
Although the bohemian population was diverse, one particular aspect of how they lived served as a unifying factor: the rejection of bourgeois values. The values they typically rejected and how are as follows:
1) They rejected private property and MATERIALISM by having no permanent residence anywhere and by surviving on LITTLE MATERIAL WEALTH.
2) They rejected strict moral values by living carefree lives of alcohol and drug use, as well as open sexual freedom.
3) They rejected the PURSUIT OF WEALTH by living solely for art and literature’s sake, pursuing their passions regardless of whether they gained an income, which they usually did not.
So I do agree with the judges that although your design is heavenly, it is too glamorous and doesn’t really suit the Bohemian living theme.
I watch the show everyweek, and loves the way you display your talents in it. However, I do realise that Mark seems to appear more gracious and willing to admit defeat than you. Whenever the result was announced and you didn’t win, you always appeared disappointed and unhappy. Even in your blog entries, it is evident that you seem not to agree with the judges as well as some of their critisms.
Anyway, just my opinion. You’re “fantabulous” and Mark’s improving, so do continue to work hard and bring the viewers more surprises every week.
on December 11th, 2007 at 1:20 am
A totally different style portrayed from the previous room!
I really liked the color combinations, pity you lost.
It’s okay, zai jie zai li! (:

Not sure which or what constitute to the real bohemia feel, however I really do like the feel of the house you’ve designed. One can immediately sense the difference by looking at the pics. Don’t lose hope cause we all share the same thoughts as you.
Cheers

on December 11th, 2007 at 8:27 am
hi bryan
nice work as always but for the last 2 episodes, i prefer Mark’s – mainly for the simplicity and neatness. I don’t in particular like the clock that your tu-di did – i can’t even see the hands! sorry
on December 11th, 2007 at 8:40 am
dear den,
I have gone past the stage of faking expressions..be it happy or sad. Thus, i probably wear what i feel on my face. If not, if i were to fake my disappointment by putting on a happy mask, wouldn’t that be too plastic? I am quite done with being polictically correct all the time…life is too short to be constantly living in a make belief world la…cheers!

I would like to find out where did u buy the pegboard ( the wood with many small holes)? Pls tell mi the place u bought it.
on December 11th, 2007 at 9:50 am
Truthful to oneself!! Why mask one disappointment or sadness? It will be so un-natural wor.
We are allowed to have our own opinions and thinkings at our blog.. this is what blog are all about… true feelings and thoughts!!!
Bryan, continue to work hard and I will be there to support you!!
on December 11th, 2007 at 10:23 am
BE YOURSELF…
Bryan has past the faking stage. And it’s really good to see the REAL him. I believe irregardless of who we are, in life, we are not a pretence type of person so is Bryan. In fact, it’s wonderful to see the REAL him, isn’t it.
on December 11th, 2007 at 10:35 am
Hmm….Bryan,
Apparently, feel the the current panel of judges uses a different criteria of assessment.
Comparing yours to your competitor, mum and I prefer your design more.
Be it eclectic of what……
Mark’s designs put together is too “luan” ESP the 3 coloured walls!
To be frank, I nearly fainted!
The use of purple on one side of the wall is too strong.
Even the gold dust (that is there for the sake of being there) doesn’t make it any better.
The blue vintage cupboard doesn’t blend with the whole deco either.
Whatever the result is, don’t feel 气馁.
Can sense so upon the announcement of results……
Haa, one thing for sure, you guys sure enjoy yourself during the whole deco.
^_*

on December 11th, 2007 at 10:55 am
i liked the candle you painted (no close up pic of the candle?) and also the curtains…and this small candle painting is such a breeze for u yah? no sweat at all…
i felt it’s inevitable to feel disappointed coz we see that u guys put your heart and soul and sweat and energy into each and every episode of Home Decor, from brainstorming to designing to executing… injecting new elements of surprises every week (painting, diy clock, diy mirror, diy table etc..) and not forgetting the great teamwork both with the crew and also the families…the tears from some of the contestants (regardless of winning or losing) tells it all right?
and u guys have to repeat this whole process each and every week… amazing… must be both physically and mentally draining…
on December 11th, 2007 at 10:58 am
Hi Bryan,
I really love your design. Its always a WOW for me when i watch how you help those contestant done up their place on every ep. My husband have the urge of doing own DIY too after watching how you have done in every ep
May i know where you get those boards? Will continue to support u !!

on December 11th, 2007 at 11:32 am
hi bryan, i think you are entitled to what you feel because you have already set a high standard for yourself and the audience also have a high expectation of what you can achieve in your designs. Majority of the contestants hope to pick you as the designer. On the other hand, Mark is the black horse so every win is a bonus for him, and he will cherish it more. Anyway no matter who win or lose, it’s great that you guys bring us a good hour of TV every monday 8pm. Enjoy the show a lot. Keep it up!

it’s a pity tat u’ve lost tis time… true tat it may b a little too glam for d theme, but it was indeed a nice transformation for d hse.
as for mark’s hse, d walls r too plain. nothing else except for d mirror. if he adds more paintings/ pictures, it’ll b better. dun like d curtain too…

Hi Bryan,
Each time i watch the ending part of Home Decor, it makes me sad seeing the
furnitures being moved away. I told myself, if I were to be the contestant, I would
definitely fork out my own money and keep the furnitures instead. BTW, are the
contestants allowed to do so? Afterall, the furnitures were bought at such good price
which I don’t think we could get such good bargains ourselves. If I were to be the
contestant, seeing the house empty after the show would really break my heart,
cannot sleep lor…..
on December 11th, 2007 at 3:34 pm
Hello Bryan
Rushed home from work to catch this week’s episode and was totally shocked at the results! My sis even exclaimed that if you dun win, she will chop off her head. Alas! the judges gave their comments and declare Mark the winner. To me, bohemian style or not, it is the cosiness and warmth exhibited from the decorations and transformation that matters. I would really not step into a house that is so damn colourful (gosh..a combination of blue?, orange? and purple? and that “so called curtain”). No matter what , my vote still goes to you. You are superb!!

Hi Bryan,
Don’t be upset… Don’t forget you have won alot of times, right?so what is this time man??ha ha ha I agreed with you why should we be putting a mask infront of people…That’s us, we are human beings with real feelings & emotions and sometimes, it’s really very difficult to pretend to be “happy” when we are not …
Anyway, why should we hide our real feelings?ha ha ha Hope my words can console you alittle bit .. hee hee hee By the way, may i check wih you where can we buy the wooden blocks with holes? Is it very expensive?
it’s a very good idea of covering the walls and unfortunatly, i’m the “luckiest” one … due to my previous contractor never do nicely … ha ha ha doesn’t matter, oh well, i can do it myself .. =)
Appreciate it if you could reply. Take Care & Cheers!!!

Hi Bryan, long time nvr leave u a msg. Anyway, juz want to tell you although I’m unable to watch this ep, I asked abt the result. And fr my parents, seems that my whole family likes your design better. So dun worry, this means that even though you lost, but there are still people out there like us like your design. Cheers!
on December 12th, 2007 at 2:29 am
I know i am prob very late in replying to this thread. But i came across your blog recently.
I admit, i was never a fan of yours. You were way to loud and flaboyant for my liking. In fact, i thought you were simply annoying in City Beat then. To me, you were just some other guy on TV.
My oh my. How have things changed!
Not only have i changed my perception of you, you have also displayed qualities of a fine young man.
In one of youre previous comment, you mentioned that you have changed. Indeed you have. For the better. This itself is a great lesson in life. As the saying goes, change is the only constance in life. And usually change is the hard to adapt.
But you have shown how to emerge a champion of changes and gone on to guide people in life.
And i think that in life is one of the most important contributions one can make. To guide and share experiences with people. I am currently in NIE now, soon to be a teacher. I think they are several tips and cues i can learn from you on how to guide my students in the future.
With that, i would like to end off this comment.
Thank you for your never-ending entertainment.
It is simply great to sit back and enjoy your programmes on TV.
I wish you and your family all the best in happiness and health.
Cheers to a greater 2008 ahead.
PS: Would it be possible to suggest to them to have English subtitles for bai jia le? We all know what an excellent show Bai Jia Le is. Moreover, Singapore is a cosmopolitan country. I think many will benefit if they are English subtitiles.
Just my two cents.
on December 12th, 2007 at 7:20 am
Hi Bryan,
To be honest, I never catch up TV programme since working.
However, Monday is my superday as got this great show.
Every Mon, I will back early as to catch up ur show to see
how do u decor a house from begining. It is very interesting as
ur design always shock, nice & perfectly. ur decor style major
in classic way which sometime made u lost, but it’s won for me!
Don’t care loose or win, the show is successful because of ur creativity design.
U should be proud of it.
Always support you~~!
on December 12th, 2007 at 8:42 am
Hi bryan,
My family and I loved your design. We all agreed that it was nicer than.. but it’s ok. I’ll be very happy if I’m the contestant as I will still have all those things that you diy with ah boon and gang. The furniture and stuffs can get anywhere but what is most treasured should be the those lovely diys that money can’t buy.
You are right, be yourself. No need to put on a false front, win you happy so smile. Lose, you sad so why need to pretend?
I must say that you’re a talented young man. I remember that you also played the piano quite well right?
Please tell ah boon that he did a great job and everyone in our family love to watch him on tv! The last time when we saw him during the channel 5 Spellcast recording, I did tell him that we loved the show and wants more of it. Hope you can tell him for us.
on December 12th, 2007 at 9:22 am
both did a good job, but i prefer ur design.. mark’s one a bit too indian to me.
can i know where is the shop with the HK boss? i like the things there! i hope i could afford it… i’m gg to revamp my sis’ room coz she juz got married. I’m gg to make it my room!

I would like to know where you get those DIY clock materials that LiTeng Made?I like the curtians also where you guys got it from?
on December 12th, 2007 at 5:07 pm
Hi Bryan
Mark sure win this round because MESSY is his name of decor. You are a neat person and perfectionist, the theme for this time is a challenge! I really cannot appreciate this week theme at all and maybe that why Mark won. Maybe the theme is about “messy”?
I nearly fell off from my sofa when you 3 cute guys play magic with the art piece! SO FUNNY! ho ho ho ho.
You are the best Sunshine Bryan!
on December 12th, 2007 at 6:22 pm
Hi Bryan
Though the result shows you have lost but you have won everyone’s heart with your desire to create a brand new face look in all the decor you have done. You should be proud of yourself regardless the result.
Just like to query, do you know if Mark has a blog? I happened to met him at Marina where he is doing a shooting (I guess) and have taken a photo of him with my wife. Mark is indeed a friendly person as compared with others we had met.
on December 12th, 2007 at 9:22 pm
though u r lost,
but the design feel very warm…
that’s great..
on December 12th, 2007 at 9:32 pm
thats an amazing transformation. ive always rooted for your designs because you have such outstanding skills. for a person who cant draw for nuts ( much less design.. ), im really in awe of your artistic talent.
though i missed this episode of home decor 3, im glad that you have posted pictures up so that i can be blown away by your design once again.
although mark has won this time round, i ( and many others, i believe ) think that your concept is still as brilliant as ever.
keep it up(: it doesnt matter if you have won or not, what matters is that you have achieved what you set out to do ( as you said ), and that is as good as winning(:
i cant wait to see more of your creations next monday.

dear all,
it’s only another 4 days to star awards 2007…
honestly, like many of u, me used to think i’ll never ever make those voting calls which cost as much as 80 cents each… why should i let mediacorp and those telco earn my money?
until one day, me realized that if money can buy someone (whom i think is worthy) something which he or she really deserves, and make him or her happy (even for just one day, one minute, one moment…), then perhaps it’s worth it afterall and why should i still care where or who the money goes to?
of course there are many ways of showing support, and voting is but just one of the ways. me believe bryan has been working very hard everyday, in exchange for rewards both material and spiritual, but awards like this might be the last on his mind. but still, that piece of glass is definitely one of the “physical” recognition that any artistes could wish for, something that he can feel and hold in his hands.
if u share the same view as me, do vote for the person u think is worthy, and continue to support him or her by all means that u could.
btw, bryan’s voting number is 1900 112 3010
may all the awards go to those who had really worked hard and deserve them, cheers!
on December 13th, 2007 at 12:15 am
your design was very unique.
My mum always made a lot of sound when watching. Saying yours was very pretty. Saying that ‘wow, bryan one was pretty good.’. And when the judges are saying their reasons for why the team wins, she always tune the sound to very loud.
Haha, often made me wonder if i’am watching the tv, or listening to her comments. And, Li-teng look very ‘hao kan’ in the show too.
I really enjoy watching your team doing all the d.i.y stuff. Made me very amaze.

hi you don’t understand bryan at all the effort he put in every show or house bryan is well known siao on he treat contestant house like his own he will made sure he do 101% effort in everything he do
. that time my house got some corp up and bryan is still filming he still offer to help me find thing i need he even afraid of me bcos he felt that i praise him 2much .
i admit mark improve alot but you say mark take it very easy ofcos till now aready 3yr each yr only 16ep and bryan win most of the time and bryan put in more effort dan mark .
do you know there’s atleast 100+ family going for the interview not just for the furniture i wait 3hr for the interviewer to interview me i told them no matter what theme you give i don’t mind i only wish to get bryan to desgin my flat .
i was very happy when the first time i saw and oso very worry i will get mark and not bryan everyone know bryan can do alot of diy and he is very good at it even if we lose we still get to keep his diy stuff .
bryan you fulfill my dreams and wish i oso like to tell you the Da Vinci’s figurine you paint i will not repaint to cover up all the effort you put in atleast in another few year that psc will stay at my wall bcos you sign on it .
thank you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks to meizhen’s comment…
see bryan, it’s more important that ur contestants love ur design, rather than the judges. it only matters to the owners as they are the ones having to stay in the house and bear with the design, didn’t u once said that?
btw, the gang just left my place, they all said the design of my house is very nice wor
