Home Decor 3 Ep 6 摆家乐 之” Seaside Living”
here we go again! After a much simple and cosmopolitan feel from last week, we were tasked to deal with a seaside living theme..Interestingly, both of the contestants has got the same kind of a flat, i.e five room penthouselike flats at punggol with ceilings as high as 4.5m! Wow you might say, and so did i!
Upon stepping into their house, i found it to be a wee bit too bland and not much is done to accentuate the high ceiling..kind of a waste actually…
WE really wanted to do something that is really out of this world and this time, more in depth woodwork and more diy mirrors and using a never been used before material…thick thick ropes! On top of that , we diy a dining table too!
this time round, we decided to break free from the usual pattern of using three seaters or two seaters and we got single seaters and ottoman instead and to create that romantic feel of living by the beach we hung draperies suspended way up high!
Reflected on the mirrors are the image of the hanging lights and the coconut tree….
Last but not least, our very own diy dining table…….
To be very frank, me thinks our team had one too many big plans for this home..having scaffoldings and lots of drilling on high grounds and failed attempts really got us very very tired..However, the end result was really appreciated by all of us..me thinks we did just fine!
So, come along to the beach with us and frolick with us in the open sea.Open thy heart and thou shall smell the lingering salt in the air…..
Frolick with me…swim with me……

Hi Bryan
With every episode of The Home Decor Survival, your artistic talents never fail to amaze me…..the transformation of the living and dinning areas are marvelous.
Here, the combination of the artifacts, ornaments, furniture, lightings and paintwork (or PAIN work?) really brings out the “resort feel” of the home. The overall visual effect is simply cozy and relaxing. Smell the lingering salt? One could almost hear the waves and seagulls nearby! Lucky homeowners!! For viewers, we could pick up a few ideas on how to beautify and make use of high ceilings.
From drawings to decorative pieces, the walls are like your canvas. For you to maximize and surpass your artistic potential in the quest to decorate your best for every home.
Bryan, you are truly, truly, fortunate and blessed with not only good looks, but multitude of talents and skills as well. Abilities which ordinary folks like us could only dream of….. Do continue to use your talents and abilities to inspire, motivate others….. create a difference in their lives. Last but not least, stay Humble, Humble, Humble, always…..

waa this time you spent so so so much effort into designing the beach theme for the house!! It’s really very refreshing to use the complementary colours of blue and white, and the DIYs!! its so amazing to see how you created from something very normal into a pieces and pieces of great artwork!!
I love the white sash curtain behind the seats, and the coconut trees… dining table.. mirrors.. basically just like the whole design of the house! How i wish i’m living in that house!
you’ve won it so very deservingly!! congrats again!

on November 20th, 2007 at 1:38 am
Hey Bryan,
What more can I say… the total combination of every single furniture and diy works is just simply awesome.. I believed no single other HDB house in Singapore has near to that kind of design. Initially when I was watching the show, I was rather skeptical about how the living by the sea theme can be effectively introduced to the interior design of a masionette like that. You know.. the tile flooring.. full height glass window panel.. its just so mis-matched!! However, you did it.. beautifully..
I am rather impressed by your choice of colour for the walls especially the blue and white stripes of paint. Very different and refreshing.. especially under the light shinning in from the sun.. The coconut trees are pretty cute too.. I can really image what is it like to stay in a home like this.. its a whole relaxing experience everytime a tired body enters the house. Congrats!!!
Oh.. and I think I managed to tide through the exam quite well.. with all the headache and stuff (due to excessive midnight oil being burnt) Ha! So happy… and more projects and exams to come.. keke..
Take care~

I watched the show last nite. Is pretty obvious that ur guys did a better job and it really fit the theme. Great design, great job. btw, just want to put a comment on the assistant, not yours but Mark. he seens very blur and couldn’t help much since beginning. May be there are things we couldnt observe in TV. Sometimes, Mark’s design also not bad, but definetely not the episode shown last nite.

Hi Bryan

Thanks
on November 20th, 2007 at 3:24 pm
Awesome! It’s not easy to decor a home with seaside theme. I love the 2 ottoman and the net that hanged from the ceiling. When I watched the TV and saw the first “coconut tree”, I thought they were ugly and might spoilt the look but you are so clever and quick to think of a even better solution for the “coconut trees”. You never run out of new ideas!
Well done to a well-deserved winner!
BTW, I have been curious for a long time – who pays for the cost of all the DIY?

on November 21st, 2007 at 12:49 am
i like that episode of bai jia le! saw the way u all worked on TV.. really alot of hard work!! at first the coconut leaves failed and u replaced it with wood.. i thought it would turn out bad cos there isnt the 3D effect anymore.. but in the end it still looks ok!! very very nice and matched with the theme perfectly!! makes me want to live in there.. hahaha

Bcs i feel that you really is a guy that very attractive – knowledgeable, kind, and humor -.. I was attracted by you now.. (#^^#)..
At the end, i would like to say that, you really having a good connection with the sense of beauty.. I love all your design in Home Decor.. Hope that next time have a chance to ask you to do the design for me if i buying house in Singapore.. haha.. Finally, i would like to say.. Do your best!! Gambate!!

hi bryan!

i love your laughters and the designs you did in the home decor survivor series.
THEY WERE DAMN NICE
teehee, i think they were cool and until now, the one i like most is the seaside living decor designed by YOU – bryan!
hehe. well, i am a P6 student this year, and yesterday was the release of PSLE results.
DONT WORRY. i am not gonna tell you my results are not desirable!
actually, i never thought of getting such a high score (to me).
i actually got 252! if i am going to add the 2 merit marks from my higher chinese, i am getting 254!
i couldnt believe it when my teacher passed the result slip to me.

I WAS OVERWHLEMED.
and i could go in a sap school.
so my first choice should be RIVER VALLEY.
i could have higher chinese again.
i could learn a 3rd language!
that’s why i am happy.
i would choose to study japanese.
i’ve been looking forward to learning japanese long ago.
want to know the reason?
LOL.
cause i love japanese.
I LOVE the way when we use japanese to communicate.
haha. maybe this comment is too long. sorriie!

well. bryan, hope you can go in my blog and tag me!
thankiew!

hello. was wondering if u have any jobs to introduce for a 14 year old? in MediaCorp? I’m interested in being a trainee too. (:
on November 24th, 2007 at 11:59 am
I do not have much time to watch tv and sometime last month or so, I caught a documentary, it was showing the little stars in children serials back in the early 80s. my favorite Little DD etc.
Gosh, I did not realize you 出道 for such a long time already!!! But I am glad that u guys who were part of my childhood are doing well and thanks for making my childhood a memorable one.
Well done!!
PS: Say, I really think that mediacorp should train or drill the little ones the way they did with you guys. The current little ‘stars’ cannot speak proper mandarin and its really a torture to watch them speak.
on November 24th, 2007 at 3:00 pm
Hmm..sorry to disturb again…i would like to ask if where you buy the ropes?can tell me the place??? seems a very good idea…
please reply through here…thanks!!!

Hi there Bryan! I guess I can be considered as a supporter of yours since I do watch the shows you hosted whenever I can.
Was really really really impressed by your artistic talent and designing taste in Bai Jia Le. You’ve really changed my impression of you from an annoying host in the past whilst in TCS, to a hardworking, talented and humourous guy as per current.
Your designs in BJL has never fail to impress me and seriously, no matter who won, in my heart you are already a winner.
So please continue to work hard Byran and I’ll be waiting for more interesting work from you!
Congrats on winning the Top 10 Most Popular Male Artist!!! ^^
