HoMe DecOr 4 Ep 4:GaRdEn ArT:园林艺术
The Topics are getting trickier..
This time round they wanted us to bring the outdoors indoors..not just garden..but garden art..
So..how to do that? was rather flabbergasted and was simply ..or ..rather clueless..
But the bottomline is, we have to complete this irregardless of whatsoever and thus, i went ahead with my interpretation of the topic and together, we set out to create Garden Art themed home decor:)
We got a four room corridor unit which was actualy quite huge and here’s the before pictures:)

My intention is to recreate this area into something that echoes the old world charm of colonial english garden and my inspiration is none other than those black and white houses, like the reknown raffles hotel….

This time round i decided to go beyond painting, so with putty, i did the art piece with the two flowers and a bird:)The hanging display of the driftwood dotted with orchids on a swing echoes the memories of yesteryears..

My art installation of this gigantic fern is a hot favourite of the judges:)

I especially love this modern interpretation of wrought iron chair..

this vertical garden scores big time! not only is it current, but, it also covers up the glass fairly well and blockes out the blue and yellow screaming from the kitchen..and my dear friends, this is real hard work!

We were all so pleased with the eventual outcome..the living area was magically transformed into a garden..with flora on swings, gazebo- like vertical garden, huge fern art installation..the black and white colours…the round day bed that went up all the way via the staircase…ooh-la-la–the votes came our way:)
I hope you enjoy strolling thru this garden..
just as much as i loved creating it….

Hi Bryan,
May I ask if there is a website listing of the furniture & fitting stores visited for the show?
I’m particularly interested in the furniture store visited for the recent garden-art theme episode.
With thanks and best Regards,
Alexis

BRYANNNNNNN!! You did SO well! I’m truly impressed and wonder where all your “juice” come from, did you refer to books or did some kinda study, or it’s just YOU? You are literally dripping with creative juice! So, so talented wor~ Actually I don’t really like Nature, so when I saw the clips last week, I thought of giving it a miss, but boy was I glad that I tuned in! You’ve changed my mind about having plants and flowers in the house~
Hey when I saw the glass partition of the kitchen, I thought you sure lose liao… but you came out with such superb vertical garden! When I saw that giant fern and how you placed it strategically nice, I knew you gonna win this round!
I LOVE every single piece of furnitures you bought and really enjoyed watching you buying them so snappily/confidently… I’m amazed at the salesperson too, who said “Yes” to your every request, up to the colour and price!
Okkkkk… I.Really.Like.Your.Decor! Way to go, Bryan! Looking forward to the next epi~

on December 30th, 2009 at 8:48 pm
dear lydia, thank you for your extremely kind words and i am very much flattered:)))))
To Chris, actually i set up one with few friends of mine two years ago..but , due to my constant travelling last year, we wrapped it up liao:)
To Rachale and Clargoh, the blinds are indeed from ikea and we just use nippon paint..the ones for painting doors..all you need to do is to get your spacing correct and use masking tape to mark down the lines and the rest is just patience and good brushwork:)

on December 30th, 2009 at 10:25 pm
Great job on this episode! I really liked what you did! Was rather disappointed that the partition you wanted to place to demarcate the living room and dining was scrapped as it looked beautiful! Love the wrough iron deco, where can I find that?
Love the fern installation but I wonder how easy it is to maintain =P
And the art piece you DIYed with putty is gorgeous!!!
I don’t think 6k is alot of money but you really turned the room around. Loved it!

on December 31st, 2009 at 12:46 am
The final look of the ‘garden house’ is really fantastic! I cannot imagine how so many plants in a house can make it all look so nice when it’s all piece up together but you did it! It really gives a very refreshing outlook, especially the square tabletop and seats that gives the interior an outdoor feel!
Great job once again!
Everytime seeing you do all those DIM showed us how much effort and hardwork you put into it! Really… tsk tsk tsk tsk tsk.

on January 1st, 2010 at 11:04 pm
Is there anywhere we can catch the replay or watch online if we miss the episodes?
Home decor is one of the best mediacorp variety show, it is a pity to miss the limited episodes due to other commitments.
on January 2nd, 2010 at 1:05 am
Wang: You can always apply for Mobtv to watch the episodes online. Now there is a promotion of $20.00 for 3 month

on January 3rd, 2010 at 6:32 pm
Your Garden Art design really look good! I like your signature D.I.M. 3-D masterpiece using the wall putty and using the Vertical Garden to “block” the kitchen. Thumbs up!
on January 4th, 2010 at 12:47 pm
I think it’ll be better for me to find some1 to record it, lol. I don’t watch anything else from mediacorp apart from this, so will be a waste.
I enjoy watching the process/decision making, and little jokes in the show. I managed to catch this episode. It is very well done especially outside the kitchen area. However, I don’t really appreciate the concept of garden in a HDB flat, nothing to do with designs.
on January 4th, 2010 at 7:31 pm
I really love what you did to separate the kitchen from the living room. In fact, I like some of the pieces so much (the green vases) and went to Galanga Living after the episode but to find them closed till 3 Jan 2010.
on January 7th, 2010 at 10:32 am
dear bryan..

on January 27th, 2010 at 2:22 pm
Hi Bryan, I follow this show closely and you are by far the most talented and creative person around! I am always awed by your creativity and ability to accomplish so many DIY in such short time. I have always been keen in interior designing but never got down to pursuing a course in that. Did you pursue a course in that area? If so, any good recommendation? Keep up the wonderful work and here’s wishing you a very blessed and prosperous 2010.
on February 12th, 2010 at 4:33 pm
Hi Bryan
It is awesome. I love the feel of how you created nature! Brilliant job! Do you think having a planted aquarium will blend into this kind of theme? An example is shown below.

Hi Bryan! I am a great fan of yours. Plus the great work you have done in home decor! I love the show that you acted on Honour and Passion in 2008. You look so handsome with your spectacles.
But honestly speaking, you are always so handsome.
