Home Decor Ep 10 InDusTriAl FUNK!

We are now into almost the end of this season ..

and this episode we are tasked to do industrial funk.

After much research, industrial funk= Cemented walls, steel, black, white grey and …Bright coloured fashionably chic furnitures.

We got May and Fann and their four room flat..and this is what we got:)

IMG_2680.JPG

To do the cemented walls, we needed this much of this!

IMG_2682.JPG

Never done this before…and this is wat u did not see on screen..lots of hard work and lots of sweats

IMG_2683.JPG

We have to stay true to Industrial funk..and so, for this episode, i decided to forgo the fanciful lightings with warm lightings.Instead, i opted for florescent tubes but, d.i.m our very own light shades but using acrilic sheets..

IMG_2691.JPG

I decided to let my creative juices flow and did a wall mural of industrial funk.Using the kartell mirrors that we purchased, i incorporated lorry stickers, floor grinders, pvc pipes and created this huge wall mural..

IMG_2688.JPG

IMG_2686.JPG

Another area that we d.i.m. would be the use of the laminate sheets that resembled metal sheets that we so often find at industrial sites. Also, we constructed a tool box that doubles both as a storage space and as a coffee table..

IMG_2687.JPG

Instead of curtains, we opted for metallic blinds….

IMG_2690.JPG

We were thankful for the eventual results.

I am even more thankful to my dear contestants, who had so much faith in us even when we truthfully declare that we know nothing about plastering of walls…and allowed us to try it out on their walls..

Such faith is a rare commodity in this present world..

I am glad that i got to experience that…

Bryan, you have done something extra-ordinary. Even though I don’t really like the theme “Industry Funk”. One big different between you and Mark is ATTITUDE. I think audience in front of TV will notice how you approach the job, with full of responsibility and passion. While Mark, I am not sure why he seems like not quite “认真” when doing such a task. If there is Home Decor 5, either you get a stronger “opponent” like Han Wei or possibly FUJI himself, or just the fight between Ah Boon and 小天使. I think the latter would be more interesting.

    Cheers.

    Bryan,

Jia you! I have been wondering why they arranged Mark to be there as I thought that his presence is an insult to your talents.

After a no of series, I finally understand that he is there to highlight how intelligent you are!

will go back to my hometown to celebrate the CNY, so looking forward to it but will miss the next ep of 摆家乐。。

Congratulations again! But don’t like the theme industrial funk, should not have this theme right before CNY. Not many can accept. For a short while is ok but I won’t want to live under this theme. Why not oriental or cny theme before CNY! Would have been that auspicious CNY feeling.

Well anyway great works as always.

Can sense there is a change in introduction which is good. Not that you are not good but you are too good so let the other person enjoy and share some joy with you.

    Cheers!
    Jen

Home Decor is really a fantastic way of displaying the artistic side of Singaporeans, and of course, seeing how you and Mark have come such a long way since season 1, your designs are so unique. Creativity can definitely be developed! :D
