My Virgin trip to Kathmandu,Nepal
Needless to say, once again, i have taken to the skies again and this time, another virginal trip(as i have never been to Turkey before) and i am immediately taken by the raw feel of the place as we landed this afternoon at two.
I was told that even a seasoned traveller would have some difficulty with the local food and thus, cup noodles dominated three quarter of my case along with a big bag of remedies ranging from actifasts to charcoal pills.Joining the strong contingent we have also chocolate bars, yoghurt museli bars, three in one coffee mix and natural nuts ( just in case i go nuts).
We checked into Hotel Himalaya and was welcomed with chorouses of Namaste..( not forgeting i still have a sort of a sash around my neck which was presented and placed around my neck with a hearty ” welcome To Kathmandu”)
The hotel seemed out of place, as it is a stark contrast with the madness and chaos on the streets…
After a brief clean up, which includes my clinique three steps, we are off for reccee and it was heavenly… Went to the square where time stood still..historical artifacts lined the streets…ghost of the past whispered gently as the wind drifted past my ears….a sight to behold. Never to be forgotten.
Intricate patterns lined the silver and copper jewelleries and bronzed buddhas, resplendent in the afternoon sun, glowed behind the dusty display counters…little children running and chasing around the square, only to break their stride as they zoomed past you, just to wave a hearty Namaste, and off they go.
Such innocence and purity filled the air and a sudden downfall got us scrambling for shelter and we found ourselves seeking shelter within the walls of the ancient palace, right in the heart of the square……..
(to be continued)

Going to Kathmandu,Nepal is one of my dreams. After what you have said, guess I have to be prepared myself before venturing there.
I can see that you are embracing yourself with the surrounding and I can sense a kind of joy in your words. It must be a great sight of looking at historical artifacts …
Take care and be blessed,
Edward Han

Saw your Nepal trip on tv and it sure brought back fond memories when I was there 5 years ago. Nothing much seemed to have changed and I truly loved the colours and mid-centuries kinda feel. Thanks for the great programme!
